Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York Soundtrack

Karolina Rec is a composer and cellist – she has been performing under the name Resina since 2016. So far Fat Cat Records / 130701 released her two albums (“Resina”, 2016 and “Traces”, 2018) and an EP with remixes (“Traces – Remixes”, 2019, by Ben Frost and Lotic among others). The soundtrack entitled Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York was released by the Polish label Coastline Northern Cuts on September 10, 2020. Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York is a standalone expansion to its predecessor, Coteries of New York. These two games are the only new, fully licensed titles representing the dark and mysterious universe of Vampire: The Masquerade, one of the most popular and respected tabletop RPG games in history. Shadows of New York, just as Coteries, is a narrative-rich interactive experience, which allows players to become a young vampire, exploring contemporary Big Apple, full of vampiric plots and schemes, struggle for power and survival within a complex set of rules and dependencies, trying to solve an unspeakable crime. Coteries won the hearts of many fans of Vampire: the Masquerade, visual novels players, an audience which loves deep stories and making choices. Both games were developed by the independent studio Draw Distance.

“During the composition stage I really wanted to quickly build an expressive musical alter-ego to Resina. Even though the music that I’ve been composing so far was the reason why I was approached to make this soundtrack, the majority of the tracks aren’t something that I could envision as a part of a potential Resina album. My goal was to construct a very special and distinct color, to capture the aura behind the game’s lining and meticulously constructed atmosphere – which I immediately was captivated by.”
