TROPICAL SOLDIERS IN PARADISE
Tropical Soldiers in Paradise return with two new EPs in 2022. Seemingly slight changes within the band had a significant impact on their sound – the premiere tracks feature Tymek Brynal (Pokusa) on bass guitar for the first time, while Marcin Sojka not only provides the group’s signature MPC beats and xylophone lines, but this time adds the real drum set to the mix.
Their journey began in 2017 as a dreamy trio (guitar, sampler, xylophone and conga) which later was filled by a brass and piano section.
Tropical Soldiers in Paradise became the special unit comprised of six musicians from different backgrounds who blend old-school hip hop with jazz, dub, calypso and Latino-African rhythms.
Tropical Soldiers in Paradise are:
Marcin Sojka – MPC, drums, xylophone
Maciek Łepkowski – electric guitar
Tymek Bryndal – bass guitar
Emilia Gołos – keys, synths
Grzegorz Pałka – trombone
Kuba Łupiński – trumpet
Asked about influences and inspirations, they mention:
Drugs, Madlib, Fela Kuti, ’90s Hip Hop, Chilled Sounds, Dialogue within Brass Section, Meteopathy, Tropical Sounds, Delays and Reverbs, Waves, African Guitarists, Knobs Spinning, Dubs, Darkside, Fairtrade, Mozambique, Son Montuno, Habana Vieja, Palo Columbia, Afro-Cuban Santeria, Plena Portoriqueña, Samba de Janeiro.
